Dear Mr. Wortell:

We want to acknowledge and compliment the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, Inc. (NIMS) for the program of skill standards you developed for the metalworking industry. In our region, where metalworking is a significant economic sector, we recognize the importance of identifying and developing needed worker skills. We appreciate the partnership that has evolved with our Great Lakes states and your organization in support of efforts to implement state-of-the-art programs to continuously improve our workforce.

We are pleased to inform you that occupational credentials issued by NIMS, any Great Lakes state, or state approved program using the NIMS skill standards will be recognized in all Great Lakes states. Industry-developed standards are recognized under the Great Lakes Guarantee in our effort to ensure the quality and portability of occupational credentials within the Great Lakes Region.

We look forward to continuing our relationship with NIMS and its member organizations.

Sincerely,
