TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

TRAVELER INFORMATION FORM: All mission participants must fill out this form.

HOTELS: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Renaissance, São Paulo; Plaza El Bosque Park and Suites, Santiago and the JW Marriott, Lima.  The Council of Great Lakes Governors in Chicago will assist mission participants in securing hotel reservations. More information on hotels can be found here.

FLIGHTS: Mission participants will need to secure their own flight arrangements for the mission.  Due to logistical complications, CGLG cannot obtain a discounted group rate. It is suggested that participants book flights through a travel agent or by booking on the web. We would like participants to book a “Group” of São Paulo to Santiago and Santiago to Lima flights. VISAS:Mission participants will need to apply for a business visa in Brazil and Peru.  Please see the visa requirement document for detailed information. A sample template company letter for a Brazilian visa can be found here. A sample template company letter for a Peruvian visa can be found here.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Renaissance, São Paulo; Plaza El Bosque Park and Suites, Santiago and the JW Marriott, Lima.  The Council of Great Lakes Governors in Chicago will assist mission participants in securing hotel reservations.

Participants need to complete and return the attached participant travel information form BY 5:00 P.M. EST ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2010, to secure reservations.  Cancellations can be made up to 45 days prior to arrival without penalty.  All costs included below are estimated based on current exchange rates.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

GROUND TRANSPORTATION

CGLG representatives in Brazil will arrange airport to hotel transportation for those arriving the morning of Sunday, April 11, in São Paulo.  Mission participants will be met after they have cleared customs.

On Wednesday, April 14, ground transportation from the Renaissance, São Paulo to the São Paulo airport will be provided for mission participants who are scheduled on LAN Flight 757 departing São Paulo at 10:00 a.m. to Santiago, Chile. CGLG representatives in Chile will be waiting in Santiago to transport the group to the Plaza El Bosque Park and Suites.  Mission participants not on the above-mentioned flight will be responsible for their own transportation.

On Sunday, April 18, ground transportation from the Plaza El Bosque Park and Suites to the Santiago airport will be provided for mission participants who are scheduled on LAN Flight 2636 departing Santiago at 8:40 a.m. to Lima, Peru.  Transportation will be waiting in Lima to transport the group to the JW Marriott.  Mission participants not on the above-mentioned flight will be responsible for their own transportation.

There will be one trip made to the Lima airport on Tuesday, April 20.  A specific departure time will be determined upon review of flight schedules. 

 

 

TRAVEL TO BUSINESS APPOINTMENTS

Each participant will receive instructions on the location of individual business appointments, the distance to those appointments from the hotel and the best mode of transport to travel to the appointment.  Cost of travel to the meetings (by taxi etc.) and interpreters will be the responsibility of the individual participant.

 

 

WEEKEND ACTIVITIES

The Council recommends that participants stay in Santiago, Chile the weekend of April 17-18.  Recommended activities include:
 

  • City Architectural Tour
  • Day trip to Vina del Mar and Valparaiso
  • Wine Tours
  • Craft Markets
